Best Amethyst Point Guards in NBA 2K20 MyTEAM

Widely considered to be the most specialized role on the basketball court, having a top-end point guard is a key to any success on NBA 2K20. I sifted through best Amethyst point guards in MyTeam which I look at the size, speed, three-point shooting, dunking ability, smoothness of the jump shot, and overall effectiveness of dribble animations. Here is our list of the five best amethyst point guards in NBA 2K20 MyTEAM.

1.) Lonzo Ball – Moments of the Week 10

All things considered, the Ball Amethyst from Week 10 of the Moments series is the best PG on its gem level. The Lonzo Ball is 6’6″ which gives him some undeniable passive strengths.

Ball’s season started off slow, much like his career. However, he has really picked it up for the New Orleans Pelicans, and it shows on his 2K rating. Ball is currently averaging 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game, and he has built his 2K rating up from a 77 to a 79 overall.

He also has serviceable three-point shooting and steals marks with an 83 rating in both categories. His 85 dunk rating combine with his height makes him one of the better finishing PGs on any level. He’s a solid defender with dynamite court vision and is a good rebounder, yet his rating puts him behind guys who don’t contribute nearly as much to their teams.

The only drawback for him is speed. The 85-speed rating is a little slow, but he’s very affordable in the Auction House and probably worth more than he’s going for if you played him in Triple Threat Online. 3,000 2K20 MT on Auction Block.

2.) Norm Nixon – Token Rewards

Another valuable Rewards card is the Amethyst Norm Nixon. You can only get this card from the token market, and considering Amethysts only run 30 tokens, it shouldn’t be too difficult to acquire.

Averaging better than 10 assists per only once in a relatively short 10-year career, Norm Nixon spent his entire NBA tenure all over California, as he would spend the first years of his career winning two titles with the Los Angeles Lakers before going to San Diego for one season and then back to Los Angeles with the Clippers for the final three years of his career.

Mostly overshadowed by the exploits of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nixon would be one of the team’s most consistent shooters and role-players, as he would average between 17 and 18 points per game for four consecutive seasons while never shooting less than 48 percent from the field during that span. Nixon would average nearly three steals per in only his second season in the league.

This card easily has the best dribble animations of any of the others on this list. Debbie Allen’s husband (Google it) is one of the most fun guards to control.

He also slams it home with an 80 dunk rating, which makes him especially effective at slashing.

Unfortunately, he only shoots the three at a 79 and has a 79 steal rating. The gap is closed with his quick jump shot animation and overall ease of use off the dribble.

3.) Chris Paul – Dwight Howard Spotlight Series II

Chris Paul is the best player on this list in real life, but in MyTeam, the Amethyst version of the future Hall-of-Famer is the third-best of its kind.

A part of this NBA organization for only six seasons, Chris Paul has quickly shot up the ranks, as he could easily be considered one of the 50 best point guards in league history while also arguably being the best point guard in the league today. Paul is an excellent passer with crafty moves and is also a terrific scorer that can hit from inside and out.

CP3 has led the league in assists in two seasons and in assists for three of the past four seasons while also setting the record for most consecutive games with a steal when he topped Alvin Robertson’s streak in game number 106.

The card is almost elite. The dribble animations and ease on the jump shot make controlling his fun. The card also has a 93 speed and steal rating to boot.

It’s worth the small MT investment to add him to your lineup if you need a strong PG, and also a key card if you’re trying to complete the Dwight Howard Spotlight collection. 4,900 MT on Auction Block.

4.) Dennis Schroder – Moments of the Week 9

Speed is not the issue with the Dennis Schroder Moments card. With a 95 speed rating, he can keep up with just about any point guard you’ll find.

Schroder doesn’t finish as well as I’d like with the 45 dunk rating, and he’s only 6’1″, which is another issue. The seventh-year pro is coming off the bench for Oklahoma City behind fellow point guard Chris Paul. He is averaging 18.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting a career-high 46.7 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three. However, he has great dribble animations, and he’s more than capable of knocking down threes (83) and picking pockets (84).

Although the Thunder wound up falling to the Heat 115-108 in the game, the 26-year-old point guard would be one of Oklahoma City’s top performers with 18 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in 38 minutes.

Perhaps best of all, Amethyst Schroder is quite affordable at the Auction House. 4,000 NBA2K20 MT Coins on Auction Block.

5.) Kirk Hinrich – Triple Threat

You can only get this hidden gem on the Triple Threat Offline prize board, and even now it isn’t available. Perhaps 2K will bring it back in the future.

For six years Kirk Hinrich was a rare commodity when it came to former Chicago Bulls point guards. He was able to create his own shot off the dribble. For most of the franchise history, point guards were specialists who waited for Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to collapse the defense and pass off for open shots. For six years this sharpshooter created havoc for opposing defenses.

It’s essential for an all-time Chicago Bulls squad, and because of Hinrich’s 93 steal rating, 91 three-point shooting and 6’4″ height, the card is one of the most balanced you’ll find. Were it not for his modest 89 speed and 25 dunk rating, I’d have him rated higher.

These are the 5 best amethyst point guards in NBA 2k20 MyTEAM that you can use in the game.
